Overview

Patient Care Technician - Joint & Spine Unit - FT - D/N at Luminis Health Position Objective: Contributes to the provision of high-quality, cost-effective health care through the direct care of patients and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Understands self-motivation in performing basic nursing care. Participates in the team nursing concept, completing tasks as delegated by the assigned nurse. May be trained to insert IVs on certain shifts/units. Validation of training and skill will be documented, upon successful completion.

Essential Job Duties Provides direct care to patients with attention to personal hygiene, daily morning and bedtime care, and comfort; initiates and maintains safety measures and comfort care.

Assists with admission of patients by greeting, measuring initial weight, taking vital signs, disrobing as necessary, and orienting the patient to room and equipment.

Prioritizes discharge by assisting with dressing, gathering belongings, and transport; removes equipment and supplies for environmental staff cleaning.

Participates in patient care, vital signs, intake and output, data collection and records; obtains specimens as requested using approved procedures; assists with mobilization/positioning as ordered.

Recognizes and reports pain, patient complaints, or obvious changes in condition to the assigned nurse.

Mentors/new staff as oriented and requested.

Transports medications as needed within policy and procedure; ensures medication is delivered to authorized personnel per AAMC policy.

Maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment on the unit.

Transports patients in accordance with established safety policies.

Processes written medical staff orders according to policy and communicates STAT or urgent orders to the care provider.

Educational/Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED

One year of experience as a CNA in an acute care setting preferred

If serving as a bilingual/multilingual interpreter, certification in Medical Interpretation is required to perform duties of a qualified interpreter

Required Licenses/Certifications Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands

– Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Pay Range

$17.50—$26 USD
