THIS IS A CONTINUOUS EXAMINATION: The examination consists of an ongoing review of candidates’ applications and supplemental questionnaires to verify possession of minimum qualifications. Those candidates who possess the minimum qualifications for the class will be placed on the eligible list based on an evaluation of education, training, and experience. The eligible list resulting from this recruitment and selection process may be used to fill future vacancies which may arise within the next year. Applications will only be accepted online. Vacancies at Santa Rita Jail require participation in pre-planned use of force incidents with Alameda County Sheriff’s Office sworn staff, including crisis intervention and de-escalation. THE POSITION: This classification specification describes the entry-level of the Forensic Behavioral Health Clinician classification. Incumbents provide mental health clinical services and forensically focused case management services to clients in a jail setting, including mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and discharge planning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Possession of a master’s degree from a recognized college or university in social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical or educational psychology, or a closely related field. AND License/Registration: Possession of a valid registration as an Associate Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychological Assistant/Associate, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor from the applicable licensing authority. Some positions may require a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of: Current theories and best practices for services to forensic clients. Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, communicate clearly, and establish effective working relationships. EXAMINATION COMPONENTS The examination will consist of a review of applicants' applications and supplemental questionnaires to verify possession of the minimum qualifications. Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of this examination.
