Assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid. Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of interventional radiology. Assists with diagnostic angiography, neuro-interventional, and other invasive procedures. Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a stand-alone classification. The incumbent in this class is on-call based on the 24-hour hospital’s business needs. Job Requirements
Education/Experience
Graduate from an accredited radiology technology program or registered cardiovascular invasive specialist program and two (2) years experience in a cardiac Cath lab for RCIS-certified individuals or two (2) years of experience in Cath lab or interventional radiology units for ARRT. Licensing/Certification Requirements
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). For Special Procedure/Interventional Radiology Lab: State of Nevada License in Radiology and ARRT Registered in Radiography. For Cardiac Cath Lab: State of Nevada License in Radiology and Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or RCES from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or ARRT. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Physical Requirements
Knowledge of procedures and protocols associated with radiation; specialized equipment used in interventional cases; anatomy and physiology; contrast application and reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; quality assurance and quality control; aseptic techniques and sterile field setup; vascular anatomy, pressures; catheter curves; burst pressures and compliance; department and hospital safety practices; patient rights; infection control policies; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; emergency response policies. Skills in utilizing computers and specialized software; operating specialized equipment; applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients; instructing patients about procedures and post-procedure rules; performing interventional procedures; communication with diverse individuals; building professional relationships; safe and efficient use of equipment. Physical requirements: mobility in a clinical setting; ability to stand or walk for extended periods; vision and hearing abilities for patient care; ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly; reasonable accommodations available.
