Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab; performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route), and drug test monitoring; reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur; serves as a member of the laboratory client services team; may prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols. Responsibilities

Perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab. Collect specimens, conduct phlebotomy (including mobile route), and monitor drug tests. Review lab reports and conduct quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems promptly. Serve as a member of the laboratory client services team. Prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs per written protocols. Qualifications

Technical knowledge of laboratory procedures, functions, and processes gained through education, experience, or a combination of the two. Strong written and verbal communication skills. State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I). Proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy. Current State of California Driver’s License and access to reliable, personal transportation for commuting to and from multiple off‑site locations. Proof of a satisfactory driving record and compliance with the California DMV’s "Pull Notice System." Ability to pass an EKG competency test. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload demands. Effective working relationships across the Health System.
