Position TitleCardiac Sonographer, Cardiovascular Diagnostics Shirlington Job Description Purpose & Scope: The cardiac sonographer assists with performing different modalities of cardiac ultrasound imaging exams for inpatients and outpatients. Responsibilities include performing echocardiograms, stress echoes, and intra-operative echocardiograms. They assist the cardiologist with standard transesophageal echocardiograms, and intra-operative transesophageal echocardiograms performed in the cath lab for structural heart cases.. The knowledge to discern and effectively report critical findings is required. Other responsibilities include typing preliminary reports, TEE probe cleaning, and other duties as delegated, Must have efficient computer skills. Must be able to communicate effectively. Responsibilities
Perform echocardiograms, stress echoes, and intra-operative echocardiograms for inpatients and outpatients. Assist the cardiologist with standard transesophageal echocardiograms and intra-operative transesophageal echocardiograms performed in the cath lab for structural heart cases. Discern and effectively report critical findings. Type preliminary reports, perform TEE probe cleaning, and handle other duties as delegated. Maintain efficient computer skills and communicate effectively. Education
Certificate in echocardiography, degree in echocardiography, or a degree in non-invasive technology is required. Experience
One year of hospital-based echocardiography is required. One year of experience in intra-operative/structural heart echo and TEE assistance is preferred. One year of experience in 3D and strain imaging knowledge is preferred. Certification/Licensure
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ADRMS is to be obtained within 12 months. BLS certification is required.
