Full-time Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent NY State License as a clinical laboratory histotechnician, clinical laboratory technologist, or Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) A minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical histology laboratory Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or a related field Experience with digital pathology and image analysis software Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR) Advanced certification in histotechnology or related specialty Responsibilities
Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring adherence to established protocols. Perform advanced histological techniques, including immunohistochemistry and special stains, to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Supervise and train junior histotechnologists and laboratory staff, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality control standards. Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and contribute to case reviews. Skills
The required skills for this position include a strong understanding of histological techniques and laboratory protocols, attention to detail, leadership abilities to mentor junior staff, and proficiency in maintaining laboratory equipment.
