Summary The Pipeline Integrity Technician will be trained to locate, identify, and interpret pipeline flaws using various in‑ditch NDE methods throughout Energy Transfer’s operating area, responding to findings under state and federal regulations (192/195).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities NDE evaluation to determine compliance with API 5L, 1104, 1163, ASME, B31.4, B31.8, State Regulations (e.g., Texas Railroad Commission), and Federal regulations CFR DOT 192/195.

Willing to receive formal training on NDE techniques including Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonics, Visual Testing, Creaform, AUT, Shearwave, PAUT, Eddyfi, and ToFD.

All NDE performed must meet ASNT‑TC‑1a and Energy Transfer certification requirements.

Required to perform basic mathematics, read/interpret technical manuals, and understand regulatory requirements for NDE.

Continuous learning required as NDE technology evolves, necessitating ongoing training and examination.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of training and achievement of the certification curriculum.

Post Training Duties

Oversee third‑party contractors during in‑ditch inspections and ILI verification/repair digs.

Maintain knowledge of company practices, construction standards, Integrity Management Plan, and SOPs.

Maintain Operator Qualifications and ASNT certifications needed to locate, evaluate, interpret, and repair pipeline flaws.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance with scope and schedule.

Maintain records for random audits and reporting, using Microsoft applications and company programs for detailed NDE inspection reports.

Understand material manufacturing processes, anomaly classifications, NDE technologies/techniques, and positive material identification.

Evaluate anomalies using in‑field techniques to assess third‑party damage, internal/external metal loss, crack‑like and manufacturing defects, and determine safe pressure calculations and repair methods.

Utilize various NDT techniques for ILI validation and anomaly assessment, including Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic & Visual inspections with tools such as Creaform Handy Scan, Automated Ultrasonics mappers, and Phased Array Ultrasonics.

Manage activities required for direct application, sub‑contracting, or internal collaboration for repairing pipeline defects down to design criteria.

Switch between corporate office and field duties across multiple locations as assigned.

Report efficiently while traveling up to 70% of time, including overnight stays, overtime work, maintaining a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and subject to random DOT Drug & Alcohol testing.

Required Experience Is Commensurate With The Selected Job Level

Minimum requirements: experience in the Oil and Gas industry in a field position.

High school diploma or GED.

Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite products.

Preferred Qualifications And Experience

Proficient with MS Office Applications.

Formal ASNT TC‑1A training and documented hours in MT, UT, PT, PAUT, and VT.

Experience Levels

Level C: 0–2 years of relevant industry experience.

Level B: 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.

Level A: 4+ years of relevant industry experience.

Working Conditions and Requirements

Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and adverse weather conditions.

May work in confined spaces.

Repetitive standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching overhead, and climbing ladders up to 25 ft; occasion lifting up to 50 lbs.

Callouts after hours, at night, and on weekends/holidays.

Work in industrial and construction settings, potentially involving hazardous products, processes, materials, and chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud machinery; PPE required.

Travel up to 75% of the time.
