1st Assistant Supervisor Golf Maintenance
Full Time, Non‑Exempt
Salary: $54,949 - $65,043 per year

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, this position directs and participates in the daily maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs and water systems; assists in construction and/or renovation of greens, tees, bunkers and fairways; and maintains work reports, logs, and records as needed.
Essential Duties
Assists in planning, directing, and implementing maintenance of tees, greens, fairways, roughs and water systems.
Assists in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating personnel; coordinates staff training and corrects deficiencies.
Performs daily, weekly, and yearly planning for course maintenance.
Instructs equipment operators in safe operation and maintenance of all equipment.
Supervises and participates in operation and maintenance of pumping stations, irrigation, and drainage systems.
Coordinates repair and maintenance programs.
Investigates and resolves complaints and operational problems.
Prepares work and equipment reports, and maintains records and schedules as required.
Applies fertilizers, amendments, chemicals, and maintains records as required.
Performs snow and ice removal using plow trucks, blowers, spreaders, shovels, ice scrapers, de‑icing salts or sand.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
Attends work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a two‑year college degree in Turf Grass Management or a related field.
Five (5) years experience in golf course maintenance.
Experience with maintenance and construction of greens, tees and fairways; operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, pumping stations and controls.
Experience with drainage control methods.
Experience operating maintenance equipment and using supplies in golf course maintenance.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
Valid Pesticide Application License in the turf and ornamental category.
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or obtain one within six (6) months of hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of golf and how play affects course conditions.
Knowledge of maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs.
Knowledge of equipment and tools used in construction and maintenance.
Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and products.
Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements for maintenance and repair.
Ability to lay out irrigation and drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens.
Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Ability to provide outstanding customer service and interact professionally with employees, patrons, and vendors.
Material and Equipment Used The position regularly uses golf carts, mowers, diesel, electric, and gasoline powered vehicles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, tractors, edgers, trimmers, shovels, rakes, hand‑held power tools, irrigation systems, custodial cleaning supplies, telephone, computer, and other common office equipment. May also drive a District vehicle and/or a personal vehicle for business purposes.
Working Environment Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather, extreme cold and heat. Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.
Physical Requirements Stand, walk, handle and operate objects and office equipment; reach above shoulder and carry, pull, push or lift up to 50 lbs. May occasionally need to climb, crawl, squat, and kneel. Must see close up and at a distance and communicate clearly. This list is not all-inclusive.
