Spring 2025, Immediate Responsibilities
Inspects the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, and agreements for work; may provide construction inspection support. Documents daily progress of the work, prepares monthly progress payment requests, tracks changes, verifies time and material work, and measures and documents job quantities. Demonstrates computer literacy for documentation and information retrieval as required. Set priorities, make decisions, and work effectively with minimal supervision; interact professionally with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, and the public. Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and stormdrains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles standards. Oversee the installation of underground wet and dry utilities, working with various Southern California regional agencies. Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and traffic signal systems, following the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation specifications. Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans, with emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing. Collaborate professionally within a large team of inspectors. Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook). Hardware/Software Knowledge
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Adobe Acrobat. Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience performing inspection of large-scale Public Works-type projects. Proven expertise in installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures. Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles Standards. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment; detail-oriented with extensive field experience and a strong commitment to safety and compliance. US Employment Authorization without needing sponsorship. Excellent written and oral communication skills. A valid Driver’s License and compliance with PACIFIC’s Vehicle Policy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF files). 3+ references from clients. Minimum Education/Training
High school diploma (or equivalent); higher education level preferred. Registration/Certification
OSHA 30 (obtained within the past 4 years). No specific technical certification required; any technical certification (e.g., ICC) preferred. Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
May assume other duties as required/needed. May be required to work various shifts as needed. The position will require the ability to transit to, from, and between project sites. LAWA requires local candidates and availability to be on-site for this field position. Compensation
