Overview
The Millwright contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers through the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery in various industrial settings including, but not limited to: pulp/paper, plastic converting/extrusion, power generation, mining and other manufacturing facilities. Responsible for providing an excellent degree of workmanship while prioritizing the safety of oneself and others and aligning work to CR Meyer values. This is a union Millwright position serving job sites in the Macon, Byron, Augusta and surrounding areas. It will be eligible for union-based compensation and benefits. More information on this will be provided to qualified candidates during the interview process. Responsibilities
Assembles, installs, aligns, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs machinery in heavy industrial settings, including but limited to: pulp/paper, plastics converting/extrusion, power generation, mining, and other manufacturing settings. Conducts preventative maintenance and other tasks during shut downs by identifying and correcting potential issues, performing repairs and replacing worn out parts. Installs machinery ensuring the layout and placement in factory settings is in compliance with construction drawings and machinery manufacturer specifications. Maneuvers machinery into place either by hand or through mechanical assistance. Verifies proper alignment of machinery components using laser equipment, transits or other hand tools. Troubleshoots machinery by running tests, making repairs and/or installing parts. Makes recommendations for needed maintenance, repair and replacement. Dismantles older machines and prepares for disposal as part of decommissioning projects. When properly certified and qualified, performs rigging functions to move, install and/or lift materials and other equipment into place. Uses proper hand signals to assist others in this process. Reads, interprets and ensures that work is compliant with approved construction drawings, documents and machinery manufacturers specifications. Asks questions when unsure of requirements prior to commencing work. Works cooperatively with other trades and conducts self in a professional manner with customers, subcontractors, coworkers and all other parties. Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission-Vision-Values and Code of Conduct. Safely operates hand and power tools. Works safely around tools in operation, moving machinery, heavy equipment, open areas, leading edges, etc. Conducts regular safety checks of tools before using them. Tags out and reports tools that need attention. Participates in all assigned CR Meyer safety training courses in a positive, proactive manner. Complies with all CR Meyer and owner safety guidelines. Positively promotes safety to others. Reports concerns to Safety Coordinator and/or supervisor. Has the authority to stop work in cases of imminent danger. Treats all CR Meyer tools, materials, equipment, with respect. Takes steps to control damage and loss. Proactively maintains certifications and training requirements in relation to Millwright trade, with an emphasis on new developments in the field and technology. Maintains personal transcript of training and provides updates to the company as needed. Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times. Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required. Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times. All other duties as assigned. Previous mechanical repair experience and/or desire to enter the trades as a Millwright required. Previous pulp/paper industry experience preferred. Journeymen must hold a Journeyman’s certificate/license. Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines including, but not limited to, First/Aid-CPR Certification, OSHA 30 and SafeStart and other job/trade-specific requirements. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program. Basic computer skills preferred and the ability to learn CR Meyer software and systems. Employees who operate a company vehicle must have a valid driver’s license, insurable driving history and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws, CR Meyer required training and demonstrate safe, courteous driving habits. Primary work hours are weekdays, however, overtime, weekend and on-call/emergency work will be required in relation to project completion deadlines. Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States required. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States, without employer sponsorship. Qualifications
Previous mechanical repair experience and/or desire to enter the trades as a Millwright. Journeyman’s certificate/license (required for journeymen). Experience in pulp/paper industry preferred. Ability to complete CR Meyer training and perform duties within safety guidelines (including First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30, SafeStart). Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening. Basic computer skills and ability to learn CR Meyer software. Valid driver’s license and insurable driving history; safe driving habits.
