Inspect the work of contractors on various construction projects such as traffic control, streets, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, driveway pads, water, wastewater, sewer, and storm drainage projects. Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contracts, and ordinances. Maintain records and prepare reports on inspected projects. This is the full journey level class within the Construction Inspector series. Employees are distinguished from Construction Inspector I by inspecting contract construction projects across multiple areas including streets, concrete, buildings, wastewater, utilities, drainage, and traffic control. Employees at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Construction Inspector III, which exercises technical lead over lower-level staff and performs more complex duties. Education and experience related to the minimum requirements may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis. Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in building and construction trades or engineering.
