About The Position This is supervisory level work over skilled craft, labor and trades personnel engaged in the new construction, installation, repair, renovation, and maintenance of mechanical/non-mechanical construction projects. Work includes assigning and inspecting new and on-going construction/maintenance projects to ensure conformance and completion and aiding crews in resolving day-to-day issues. The incumbent exercises considerable independent judgement involving facility management and/or building maintenance and operation. Work in this class is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and reviewing the work of professionals, supervisors, skilled tradespersons, semi-skilled, and unskilled engaged in a variety of tasks involving maintenance operations.

About The Agency The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. Examples of Work

Plans, supervises and evaluates the work of skilled trades personnel in the repair, renovations, and preventive maintenance of various County owned and leased facilities.

Determines priorities, manpower requirements, materials, and equipment needed for operating/maintaining County buildings in proper state of repair.

Conducts past performance appraisals, provides constructive counseling, guidance, training, and progressive discipline.

Monitors performance of contracted vendors in the repair, maintenance, and installation services in accordance with established specifications.

Confers and coordinates with building occupants, contractors, engineers, inspectors, and other County agencies in order to explain, clarify, and resolve construction/maintenance service issues.

Plans, estimates, inspects, and renders reports of in-house renovations, new installations and maintenance.

Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class for work.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent or completion of an apprenticeship program in one or more of the skilled trades

Five (5) years of work experience in one or more of the skilled trades which included the actual installing, maintaining and repairing of the specific equipment involved

Two (2) of the five (5) years must have been at the supervisory lead capacity

Eligibility for any specific license(s) as required for the specific position

Preferred Qualifications:

Possess a Master Electrician’s License

Possess a Master Plumber’s License

Possess a Master Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician’s License

Possess a Maryland Stationary Engineer’s License (Grade First, Second or Third Class)

Conditions of Employment

Possession of a valid state issued driver's license.

Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.

Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
