Full Job Description — CNC Machinist (Plastics) - 2nd Shift | Lee's Summit, MO
2nd shift schedule: Mon–Fri, 3:30pm–11:00pm.
Target pay: $22–$33/hr DOE
Industry: Plastics components manufacturing; precision machining
Employment type: Full-time, onsite

What You’ll Do as a CNC Machinist (Plastics) - 2nd Shift
Set up and operate CNC mills or lathes to machine plastic parts to print.
Load programs, set tools/offsets, perform first-article and in-process checks.
Read blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions; hold tight tolerances in plastics.
Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators; document results.
Adjust feeds/speeds for polymers; manage heat, chip control, and surface finish.
Change tooling, fixtures, collets; select plastic-appropriate tooling and coolants.
Maintain machine cleanliness, 5S, basic PM, and accurate production records.
Collaborate with QA and engineering on tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
Meet daily output, scrap, and on-time targets while following safety procedures.
Qualification Summary - CNC Machinist (Plastics) - 2nd Shift
2+ years CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes).
Proficient with prints, GD&T, and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers).
Experience with plastic materials (e.g., acetal, nylon, UHMW, acrylic, polycarbonate).
Basic CNC setup skills; tool offsets, work offsets, first-piece buyoff.
Reliable attendance for 2nd shift, M–F 3:30pm–11:00pm.
Nice-to-Haves for CNC Machinist (Plastics) - 2nd Shift
CNC controls experience; G-code edits.
Mastercam or similar CAM for minor program tweaks.
SPC, ISO 9001/AS9100 familiarity; lean/5S; kaizen participation.
NIMS credentials; OSHA 10; forklift certification.
CMM basics; fixture design or vacuum fixturing exposure.
