Position Summary This diesel technician/mechanic position at Penske focuses on providing top service to customers who have roadside assistance needs. The role requires diagnosing and repairing all types of maintenance issues on trucks in all weather conditions in the safest manner on the side of the road.

Qualified Candidates Qualified candidates will have prior, demonstrated experience in tractor‑trailer repair and proficiency in the use of all types of repair tools. Individuals must be willing to drive a Penske Road Assist vehicle outfitted with tools and supplies.

Work Schedule Candidate must be able to work a flexible shift that will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Valid FL Driver’s License Required Why Penske?

Competitive wage and great benefits.

Shift differentials: $2.00 after 11am (second shift) or $3.00 after 9pm (third shift), and $2.00 for weekend work.

CDL holders eligible for $2.00/hr.

Major Responsibilities

Respond timely to road‑assist calls, identify parts requiring replacement and warrantable repairs, and document appropriately.

Perform diagnostics and non‑road‑assist call repairs that can be completed quickly, as needed.

Restock the rapid‑assist vehicle with tools, parts, tires, or other required items.

Maintain the road‑assist vehicle as required.

Assist with designated in‑shop repairs as directed by supervisor when not on road calls.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

2–4 years practical experience with tractor‑trailer maintenance.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.

Specialized training in repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred.

Proficiency in the use of shop tools required.

Current CDL license with air‑brake certification required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.

Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.

Ability to work in non‑climate controlled conditions required.

Compliance with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.

Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice.

Regular, predictable full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Required driver qualification file maintenance as regulated by the DOT.

Willingness to travel within the district as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete background investigation and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

Frequently move, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled working period.

Hands used routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or otherwise operate required tools or controls.

Work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms.

Work safely in all weather conditions.

See and hear to safely navigate the work environment during frequent movement of large trucks.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
