Embedded Linux Firmware Engineer

Contract Position
$66.42-$71.42/Hour
Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance
Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.
Responsibilities
Design and develop firmware for electronic components and processing subsystems
Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams to implement video, image, and graphics processing solutions
Interpret system requirements and break them down into actionable development tasks
Perform embedded Linux development using Yocto Linux on platforms like NVIDIA Jetson and Xilinx Ultrascale
Develop and maintain Linux device drivers and custom peripheral drivers
Execute system‑level debug and validation using physical lab testing
Implement system constraints and perform hardware/software integration
Develop and maintain Linux build systems, drivers, and middleware
Support video streaming technologies such as V4L2 and GStreamer
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
10+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development
Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Proficiency in Linux and Linux driver development
Hands‑on experience with Yocto, C/C++, GIT, Bitbucket, gcc, Makefile, and Qt
Experience with Linux system image build tools (e.g., Yocto), bootloaders, memory maps, and device drivers
Familiarity with mixed OS environments: VxWorks, Linux, PetaLinux, RTOS, Virtualization, BSPs
Experience with serial and network protocols: RS‑232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, UDP/IP
Experience with debug tools: gdb, DOORs, Jira, Confluence
Experience with hypervisors (Type I & II), SELinux, verified boot, and trusted execution environments is a plus
Familiarity with CUDA, OpenCV, and Jetson platforms
Knowledge of standards and interfaces: MOSA, SOSA, GCIA, TSN, PCIe, DDRxx, USB, SATA, MIL‑STD interfaces
Exposure to graphics/video interfaces: HDMI, DisplayPort, HD‑SDI, RS‑170, LVDS
Understanding of FPGA design (Xilinx tools), signal integrity, and military standards: MIL‑1275, MIL‑461, MIL‑464, MIL‑810
Experience with Six Sigma tools: DFMEA, Reliability Analysis
Prior experience with ground combat vehicle systems is desired
Must be available for occasional evening and/or weekend work
On‑site work and potential travel may be required
