We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Engineer III - IV
to join our team in
Richmond, VA . The candidate should have significant mechanical design experience and the desire to help grow the team and develop junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Represent the Firm in interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
Design large projects, prepare reports and specifications, and provide technical leadership.
Assist with project scheduling, manpower planning, and budgets under guidance of senior staff.
Assist with processing RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Addenda.
Establish system applications, design and operational parameters under supervision.
Create basic designs, develop specifications, system narratives and layouts for various projects.
Participate in QA/QC processes for own work and that of others.
Perform construction administration and field investigations, including field inspections and reports.
Interact with internal design teams and external clients/consultants (owners, builders, developers, program managers, architects, vendors, etc.).
Engage with trade organizations and prepare presentations.
Manage CAD/BIM and other technical staff as directed for specific projects or tasks.
Assist with employee reviews as requested.
Estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility using ROM estimates.
Prepare engineering proposals under the direction of a senior engineer or senior designer.
Qualifications
Current EIT and/or PE registration as a Mechanical Engineer.
Ability to fully design mechanical systems for various building types, including commercial, mixed-use, mission-critical, life science, and R&D facilities (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
3.5+ to 7+ years of experience in a consulting firm.
LEED AP accreditation (highly preferred).
Strong ability to coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom teams; knowledge of constructability and cost.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
EIT/FE required; PE preferred.
