Assist with the design of control systems for machine applications ranging in complexity from basic to intermediate. Design activities include component selection, layout of control panels, junction boxes, and operator stations, using AutoCAD Electrical to create schematics. Control systems must be compliant with best practices, functional needs, and applicable codes and requirements. Create bills of material for assigned projects. Obtain quotes for components, use purchasing software to process orders, receive parts and stage them for assembly. Lead or support the in-shop assembly and testing of new machines. Lead or support installation and start-up of new equipment and control systems. Assist plants in troubleshooting existing equipment remotely (phone, Teams, online with control systems) or on-site. Provide training to plant personnel as part of equipment commissioning. Also provide technical training as an instructor through the Engineering Pathways program. Provide documentation for projects to be included in the equipment manual. Work with the staff technical writer on manual completion. Travel approximately 25% and work some weekends. Qualifications
Required Successful completion of two years of formal education beyond high school in a related degree program or at least 4 years of related work experience. Experience using Rockwell Software including RSLogix 500, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and FactoryTalk View (SE or ME). In-depth understanding of electrical controls technology. Experience with CAD software. Strong mechanical aptitude. Strong troubleshooting skills. An up-to-date understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC). Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Extensive programming experience with Rockwell Software including RSLogix 500, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and FactoryTalk View (SE or ME). Ability to create electrical schematics using AutoCAD. Current CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional). State of Minnesota electrical license. At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $31.50 - $44.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
