Plumbing Inspector I & II – Huntsville, AL
Salary range: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00. Full‑time position at the mid‑senior level.
Overview The City of Huntsville’s Inspection Department enforces building codes and issues building permits. The mission is to protect public health, safety and welfare by enforcing adopted Building Codes and safeguarding the public from unlicensed contractors.
Plumbing Inspector I Responsibilities
Inspect a variety of plumbing installations to determine compliance with plans, workmanship, materials, and related codes and ordinances.
Maintain secure compliance with plumbing construction codes.
Plumbing Inspector I Qualifications
High school diploma from an accredited school or a GED certificate.
Experience as a journeyman‑level plumber or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Certification as an Alabama Journeyman Plumber or International Code Council Plumbing Inspector certification.
Plumbing Inspector II Responsibilities
Lead, provide assistance and advice to other plumbing inspectors.
Conduct more complex inspections, ensuring compliance with plumbing construction codes.
Plumbing Inspector II Qualifications
High school diploma from an accredited school or a GED certificate.
Minimum ten (10) years of plumbing trade experience or equivalent experience and certification.
Certification as an Alabama Journeyman Plumber or International Code Council Plumbing Inspector.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
