UES
At UES, we’re a team of more than 4,000 engineers, scientists, geologists, inspectors, technicians, and drillers united by a shared purpose—to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. As a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing and inspection, we collaborate on transformative projects across transportation, energy, water, healthcare, and more.
Are you a driven Geotechnical Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a capable individual to manage projects, mentor staff, and build strong client relationships while delivering top-tier geotechnical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Manage – Oversee projects, cooperate with small teams, and drive successful outcomes. Drive Client Success – Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients by representing UES’s expert services. Review & Refine – Ensure engineering analyses meet the highest standards. Mentor & Grow – Support a culture of learning to facilitate both personal growth and the development of less experienced staff. Get Involved – Engage in opportunities with well-respected engineering bodies such as the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and more. Analysis & Design
Perform analyses: bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and seepage. Develop recommendations for shallow, deep, and mat foundations (e.g., LPILE, Settle3). Conduct project-specific pavement design. Assess seismic response and liquefaction. Simulate soil-structure interaction and ground improvement. Perform groundwater flow and seepage analyses (e.g., MODFLOW, SEEP/W, Anaqsim). Construction Support
Review submittals, conduct QA/QC, and provide field support during construction. Observe compaction, instrumentation, and pile driving. Utilize digital tools for documentation and collaboration. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare geotechnical reports, design memos, and technical specifications. Summarize lab and field test results. Develop borehole logs, profiles, and cross-sections. Review engineering analysis and geotechnical reports as the engineer of record. Design & Drafting
Create technical drawings using Autodesk products. Data Analysis & Visualization
Perform data analysis and modeling in Excel, MATLAB, Python, or R. Use ArcGIS/QGIS for geospatial analysis and mapping. Leadership & Professional Development
Mentor junior engineers and field staff. Maintain knowledge of IBC, AASHTO, and DOT standards. Pursue or uphold PE licensure and advanced geotechnical knowledge. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering (required); Master’s in Civil Engineering (preferred). Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). (Ability to obtain within 1 year of employment) Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience. Technical Skills: Proficient in industry-standard geotechnical software and Microsoft Office Suite. Additional: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. UES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to recruit the most qualified candidates.
