Pay Range:

$27.15/hr - $32.58/hr (DOQ)

Performs supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating maintenance work for the City’s Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, and Telemetry System.

Plans, organizes, implements, and assists with activities and projects related to repair and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities and telemetry systems.

Supervises maintenance tasks and supports the Utility Treatment Plant Manager to ensure plant compliance.

Monitors and inspects ongoing work.

Inspects and interprets gauges, control panels, meters, and electrical switch gears.

Estimates labor, time, and materials required for tasks.

Adjusts work methods and assignments as needed.

Plans and conducts on-the-job training for maintenance staff.

Enforces departmental policies, rules, and city regulations.

Performs employee evaluations and determines if follow-up or disciplinary actions are necessary.

Reads and interprets sketches, electrical and piping diagrams, blueprints.

Identifies needs for preventative maintenance and supervises repairs.

Collaborates with contractors and other departments.

Orders supplies, equipment, and tools.

Works on call during nights and weekends as required.

Assists with electrical maintenance and repairs for the Collection division.

Maintains cleanliness of trucks, sheds, and work sites.

Drives city vehicles (valid Florida Driver’s License required).

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skilled in electrical work at the journeyman level, familiar with motors, pumps, control panels, switch gears, transfer switches, and generator sets, including control circuits (120-480V).

Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telemetry systems, chlorine analyzers, turbidity meters, flow meters, and other critical monitoring equipment.

Capable of performing preventative maintenance tasks at the plant.

Knowledge of electrical construction, repair, and maintenance practices.

Understanding of utility facility construction, repair, and maintenance.

Ability to interpret sketches, maps, blueprints, and diagrams.

Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and assist staff.

Ability to estimate time and materials accurately.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work nights and weekends when required.

Proficient in reading and writing English.

Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED.

Licensed Journeyman Electrician.

At least 5 years of supervisory experience in electrical, water, wastewater, collections, and telemetry maintenance.

Valid Florida driver’s license; must obtain a Class B CDL within 18 months if not already possessed.

Basic computer skills.

Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Complete NIMS training within 6 months of probation completion.

Physical Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Sit, stand, and walk as needed.

Exert physical effort to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles.
