Location: Ann Arbor, MI – Retail shop

Airgas is hiring a Plant Operator / Backup Class A Driver in Ann Arbor, MI. This role supports our gas delivery operations by handling cylinders and providing on-site delivery to customers.

Responsibilities

Load and unload gas cylinders onto and off route trucks using proper carts.

Operate a forklift to move cylinders on pallets.

Handle high‑pressure medical and liquid cylinders; prepare cylinders for filling, attach to manifold, evacuate to remove contaminants.

Perform basic cylinder maintenance: painting, labeling, and cleaning the work area.

Inspect cylinders before filling, following national and company standards; conduct safety checks such as odor tests and valve checks; fill cylinders by pressure and weight.

Track cylinder quantities, styles, and inventory as well as assist with inventory management.

Safely load, deliver, and unload compressed gas cylinders at customer locations; record deliveries and pick‑ups on a load manifest; obtain customer signatures; collect empty cylinders, reject or unsold merchandise; return empty cylinders to a plant or branch for refilling.

Qualifications

Valid Class A Driver’s License.

Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.

Hazmat and Airbrake certifications (or ability to obtain them).

Minimum one year of Class A driving experience within the last five years with a clean driving record; no more than two convictions or two at‑fault accidents (or a combination of one conviction and one at‑fault accident) in the last three years.

Alternatively, graduation from an accredited driving school and at least one year of recent driving experience is acceptable.

Minimum age 21.
