Lead Field Service Technician - Stellantis DACM - Detroit, MI

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly) Department: Field Service Position Summary

The Lead Field Service Technician is responsible for the daily activities at a customer site, including scheduling, delegating tasks, maintaining 5S standards, inventory, and maintenance of units. The Lead Technician will be the point of contact for training new hires and sets the standard for professionalism at the customer site. This individual will support fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This person will maintain consistent communication with their Regional Service Manager to provide updates on customers, technicians, and site issues. The position requires excellent technical skills, communication, independent judgment, and motivational skills. The Lead Technician should model professionalism and maintain a positive attitude to build site morale. Responsibilities

Lead point of contact for the assigned customer site, owning site performance, ensuring up-time and overall success. Check in daily with the customer to ensure units operate efficiently. Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and procedures. Maintain effective communication with the customer, informing them of issues (including parts delays and engineering issues). Maintain schedules for all technicians at the site to ensure adequate coverage and satisfactory customer service. Provide proactive updates to the Regional Service Manager and coordinate additional help when needed (staffing, training resources). Track all open work orders for the site and elevate thematic issues to leadership as needed. Maintain appropriate levels of spare equipment for customer availability. Build effective internal relationships with technicians at the site and across the region. Ensure the Plug Power work area at the customer site is neat, organized, and compliant with 5S standards. Apply customer-specific policies and procedures by setting the example for the team and ensuring adherence. Mentor technicians on site, including training on site policies and providing technical guidance and support. Assist onsite technicians with on-the-job training and learning related to pay. Maintain appropriate levels of parts inventory on-site and order tools, equipment, and parts as needed. Coordinate weekly inventory audits by assigning a technician to lead. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair units and hydrogen infrastructure. Manage Preventive Maintenance schedule on a weekly basis to maintain units and hydrogen system. Perform specialized service procedures, including field retrofits, software and hardware upgrades to fuel cells and hydrogen systems. Provide on-call and emergency support to customers as required. Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site/system documentation. Champion safety compliance, including safety manual, SDS, tool inspections, and related certifications. Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned. Education And Experience

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework. Four or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience. Prior experience as a Lead Technician is preferred. Exceptional organization skills; 5S experience is preferred. Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly unassisted. Travel as required for business needs; drive safely and adhere to traffic laws. Proficiency with computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and maintain quality standards. Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks. Punctual and reliable. Technician must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power. Pay Rate
