Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Tonawanda, New York. Position Details
Location: Ryder Shop, 2834 Kenmore Ave, Tonawanda, NY 14150 Hours: Mid Shift 11:30 am – 8:00 pm, Monday–Friday (weekends OFF) Compensation and incentives: Hourly Pay $31.24 per hour; Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700; Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays you up to $500 every quarter; Tool Box/Tool Allowance. Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance. Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable. Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision. Replaces defective components as instructed and works unsupervised on most tasks. Performs facility maintenance duties and interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint. Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation; adheres to all safety, DOT, MOT guidelines. Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and accesses internal/external maintenance documents. Other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support. Expected to complete OEM On-Line diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix (target within 365 days). Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred. Basic tools required; three or more years of relevant work experience preferred. Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires) and basic diagnostics including AC and electrical systems. CDL CLASS A preferred; all other location-specific certifications required. Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty/medium-duty equipment; knowledge of PC/Windows. Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle checks for last 3 years. Additional Information
