Status: Full-Time (Hourly) • Pay Range: $34.06 per hour
Job Overview RWJBarnabas Health is hiring for a Boiler Operator Blue Seal at the Community Medical Center. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining stationary boilers and mechanical equipment, performing preventive maintenance on boiler room equipment and related devices, carrying out other tasks directed by the Chief Engineer, Manager or Director of Engineering, and dispatching emergency calls as required during off‑hours.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years as a Power Plant Operating Engineer
Strong oral and written communication skills; computer literate with the ability to read operating and service manuals
Certifications and Licenses Required
New Jersey Blue Seal Steam
UST Class C Operator Training, or completion of the training within 6 months of hire
Scheduling Requirements
Variable shifts: 4:00 am–12:00 pm and 12:00 pm–8:00 pm
On‑call every other weekend
Full‑time position
Essential Functions
Work independently and complete repairs through to resolution
Use and maintain ATC/BMS systems
Troubleshoot all equipment accurately and perform necessary repairs
Maintain an accurate inventory and history of all boiler‑room equipment
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including annual shut‑down, cleaning and boiler inspection
Collect data on boilers, water treatment, temperature and fuel consumption
Complete required documentation for all performed work and ensure it is accurate and legible
Inspect equipment to ensure safety regulations are met and operation is efficient
Maintain adequate stock of materials necessary for ongoing repairs
Perform emergency repairs on boiler equipment and related devices
Respond promptly to temperature‑control problems, aligning with staff and patient‑satisfaction guidelines
Care for the Medical Center’s tools and equipment
Maintain safety and cleanliness of the work area
Enter work into the work‑order system
