UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a
Dental Assistant I
to join their team of professionals. The DA I will be responsible for assisting residents/students with dental treatment, taking X-rays and CBCTs, setting up surgeries, infection control, cleaning and fully stocking operatories, and more. RDA from the State Board of Dental Examiners is required. CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is highly preferred.

Position Summary Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision.
Key Accountabilities
Assists in the teaching of dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in the principles of four‑handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU).
Provides chair side assistance to students and faculty.
Maintains sterile environment, and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies within the working area.
Maintains infection control standards.
Maintains records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments.
Responds to emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification and Skills
Basic office or computer skills.
Dental Assistant by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required.
Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred.
Minimum Experience None
Physical Requirements Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
Security Sensitive This position is a security‑sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094, 117.001(2), and 791.4. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification.
