Position Overview The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) within the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications from candidates for a tenure track position with specialization in computer architecture and/or fault tolerant design, with particular interest in connections to quantum computing. Candidates with research interests in applying both classical and novel techniques to developing reliable and reconfigurable hardware for quantum computer controllers are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will possess a solid publication record in this area of expertise, be an excellent communicator, enjoy advancing student learning and inspiring students; welcome the opportunity to work at a research institution that educates diverse students with the expectation that they become leaders in their engineering professions; and demonstrate strong potential for attracting external research funding, as well as the ability to interface their research and teaching with the department’s strengths in Controls and Autonomy, Communications/Signal Processing, Wireless Networks, RF/Microwave engineering, IoT and Computer Engineering.

The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses, leading and conducting competitive funded research; student advising, mentoring, and recruitment; curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure and a successful academic career.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation processes, program assessment and service to the department, College, University and technical communities, as needed. Based on a candidate’s qualifications, appointment at a higher level may be considered.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution. The university is a large provider of STEM education and research, with notable statistics and recognitions described in the original posting. The College of Engineering (COE) focuses on cultivating leaders who excel in academics, innovation, and research across its five research cluster areas: Autonomous Systems, Cybersecurity & Resilience, Energy & Sustainability, Healthcare Applications, and Complex Systems & Networks. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the largest in the COE and offers BS programs in electrical and computer engineering, MS in electrical engineering, and a PhD in electrical engineering, with 18 faculty members.
