This position is responsible for supporting installations and service calls exclusively at GROB’s customer sites. This individual will need to be available to travel on short notice to wherever GROB designates them to travel to. While at the customer sites, this role involves rapid-response service, troubleshooting and mechanical support for CNC and other automated equipment at customer sites. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, an in-depth knowledge of metric prints, and an understanding of assembly technology and/or metal cutting principles.
Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites as needed, often on short notice
Perform mechanical diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on machine tool equipment
Support emergency service calls and express hotline service requests with quick turnaround
Install and align mechanical components including motorized spindles, ball screws and linear guides
Collaborate with Controls and Electrical teams to resolve cross-functional issues
Utilize precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, levels, indicators, micrometers, etc.)
Read and follow mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical prints/drawings
Read and follow tool layouts and NC code (G-code, M-functions)
Troubleshoot machine errors
Document service activities and provide detailed reports to internal teams and customers
Qualifications
High School Diploma minimum
2+ years of experience in mechanical service or maintenance, preferably in the machine tool or automation industry
Technical degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or related field; preferred
Understanding of drawings, schematics and troubleshooting
Previous CNC machining or machine building experience preferred
Previous experience with assembly equipment and robotic cells preferred
General Requirements
Ability to travel as required for business needs
Self-motivated; able to work alone or in a team environment
Full understanding of the metric system
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and precision alignment
Strong math skills
Willing to work overtime as needed
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport
