Position Shermco Systems Integration is seeking a
Controls Engineer I
to design, develop, and implement control systems for various applications. The role requires using automation, programming, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to ensure efficient and safe operation.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain safety‑focused behaviors.
Design, develop, and implement control systems, including network architecture and control philosophy.
Program and configure PLCs, HMIs and other control devices using ladder logic, FBD and other graphical languages.
Develop control algorithms and software.
Test and validate control systems to meet performance requirements.
Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues, implementing solutions to improve performance and reliability.
Install, configure, and test software systems on‑site, collaborating with specialists and clients.
Evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, project managers and stakeholders and communicate technical information clearly.
Ensure all control systems are designed and implemented safely and may be responsible for implementing safety protocols.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in control systems and startup/commissioning.
Strong understanding of control theory, automation, and programming.
Experience with low‑voltage controls.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Ability to work safely and a commitment to safety.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills; proficiency in CAD software.
Experience with the following controls platforms is required: Allen Bradley ControlLogix, GE RX3i, Siemens S7‑300/400, Schneider Modicon, DeltaV, Wonderware, OPC Systems, etc.
Preferred industry experience: Semiconductor, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Metals, Mining, Paper, Data Centers, Health Care, Food & Beverage.
Flexible to work out‑of‑town with regular overnight travel.
Other Requirements
Demonstrate personal commitment to safety.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive regularly.
Must pass a fit‑for‑duty physical exam when required.
Must pass a pre‑employment drug test, random drug tests and a criminal background check.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
U.S. work eligibility without visa sponsorship.
Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
