Position: Civil Engineer I
This position is within the Fabrication Engineering Unit of the Quality Assurance / Bureau of Engineering Review and Support. Under general supervision, the Civil Engineer I performs responsible project management tasks, including monitoring off-site inspection during the fabrication of Structural Steel and Prestressed/Precast Concrete bridge components.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee inspection agencies during their assignments.
Review shop drawings, design drawings, weld procedures, and fabrication and repair procedures.
Evaluate Non-Destructive Testing Procedures and results.
Work with standards such as AWS Structural Steel and Bridge Welding Code, NYSSCM, NYSPCCM, ASME, and ASTM.
Travel to fabrication plants across the US and Canada as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of full-time civil engineering experience.
Valid New York State Professional Engineer's License, maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
