We are looking for a skilled plumber to work at the Charlotte Convention Center, providing essential infrastructure support for events and daily operations.

Job Summary The Plumber assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems by performing the specified duties. The Plumber will support operational needs at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Essential Job Duties
Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
Cuts and threads pipe.
Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.
Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
Welds holding fixtures to steel structural members.
Troubleshoots problems that may arise during events to ensure no interruptions occur.
May perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing codes and practices.
Proficiency in using various plumbing tools and equipment.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
Strong mechanical skills to install, maintain, and repair water supply, drainage, and gas piping systems within residential and commercial properties, including fixtures like toilets, sinks, and faucets.
Ability to read blueprints, cut and assemble pipes, and work with different materials to ensure proper functionality and compliance with local regulations.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma (H. S.) and two to three years of specialized schooling; and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Plumbers license preferred.
Physical Demands
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly use power hand tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines preferred, including but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, ice technician, carpentry/painting, mechanical trades (doors, locks, alarm systems, etc.).
Ability to maintain adherence to quality, safety, and the timely completion of assigned projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to foster and work well within a team environment.
Strong commitment to customer service and always maintaining a professional atmosphere.
