Description The Quality Engineer II is a mid‑level professional that is responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards, while also improving quality processes and reducing defects. This position involves working closely with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support product development.
Responsibilities
Ensure that supplied materials and products comply with relevant quality standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
Participate in problem‑solving activities with cross‑functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Product Support Engineering to identify causes of non‑conformances and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Work with cross‑functional teams to meet company quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
Develop and maintain QA work instructions, check sheets, and inspection instructions.
Perform process audits for manufacturing and inspection to ensure compliance for machining, assembly, and inspection are accurate and being followed.
Perform capability studies and part layouts on the CMM and other measurement equipment to produce Initial Sample Inspection Reports for Engineers.
Work cooperatively with shop personnel to identify and resolve any nonconforming issues that are evident.
Prepare statistical information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Oversee and ensure good containment processes to limit risk of non‑conforming materials or processes.
Position Requirements
Associates Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field with 6+ years relevant experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field with 2+ years relevant experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with machining and inspection of parts made from large aluminum castings.
6 Sigma green belt, yellow belt, or black belt certification.
Knowledge of basic Statistical Process Control.
Familiarity with CMM function, and programming to validate data and dimensional reports.
Skilled in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Must have the ability to work in a team, be flexible, and self‑starter, with the desire to solve any problem, and ability to work in a startup‑like environment.
Experienced with statistical process analysis for sources of variation and determination of process capabilities.
Familiar with Metrology techniques, measurement tools, data collection, and NDT methods.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and product specifications.
Strong Problem Solving, Root Cause, and Corrective Action skills including tools.
Utilize good practice and verifications of Measurement techniques, MSA, Gage R&R.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Familiar with 5S principles and lean concepts in manufacturing.
