BrightFarms operates multiple high-tech greenhouse farms and distributes fresh lettuce across the East Coast and Midwest.

Job responsibilities

Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and orderly manner, complying with OSHA and food safety protocols.

Assist in installation, maintenance, and repair of automated material handling and greenhouse equipment.

Use preventive and predictive maintenance processes; troubleshoot equipment and restore service promptly to support facility operations.

Collaborate with Facility Manager and technicians to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures.

Assist in training maintenance technicians and technicians-in-training to enhance skills and knowledge.

General knowledge and skills

Understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.

Ability to conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of some industrial robots.

Document work orders with data such as labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used.

Experience operating equipment (e.g., snow blowers, lawn mowers, small hand tools).

Understanding of basic electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.

Ability to establish positive working relationships across the organization and follow safety procedures with PPE usage.

Operate company vehicles for maintenance activities and travel to nearby facilities or stores to procure parts.

Perform duties in compliance with plant rules, safety, sanitation, and housekeeping practices.

Capable of working at heights from ladders or scaffolding; able to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV) and willing to be certified.

Ability to work overtime if required and to work effectively in a team environment.

Familiar with basic machine shop equipment (e.g., lathes and mills).

Duties / Responsibilities

Repair or replace defective electrical, plumbing, or mechanical components.

Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site (conveyors, packaging, palletizers, etc.).

Disassemble, replace, or repair mechanical and electrical components; maintain motors, sensors, relays, and controls.

Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, software, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Provide technical assistance when problems are encountered and assist with installation and maintenance of electrical control systems.

Maintain electrical parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations; understand troubleshooting sequences.

Work with basic wiring diagrams, symbols, blueprints, and electrical measurements; perform preventive/predictive maintenance.

Familiar with industrial controls, electronics, conveyance systems, and pneumatics.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED

3-5 years of trade school, or equivalent military/work experience

Ability to work any shift, weekends, and holidays as required

Climb steps; lift up to 50 pounds; work in extreme temperatures

Ability to crawl, work in tight spaces, and perform duties using ladders and lifts

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in a technical or industrial field

Food or agriculture industry experience

Understanding of advanced industrial electrical systems (DC and AC, from 24V to 480V)
