As part of our Mission Systems sector on our Rolling Meadows, IL facility, this role supports the development, build, and test validation of ruggedized electronic equipment for military applications within the Hardware Engineering organization.

Location & Relocation Full‑time, on‑site at Rolling Meadows, IL. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

Job Type & Travel Full‑time, on‑site with 10% travel.

Security Clearance Clearance type: SAP. Position is contingent upon funding/contract award, special access program, and the ability to obtain and maintain the necessary U.S. Government security clearance (minimum Secret) prior to start.

Responsibilities

Support the development, build, and test validation of ruggedized electronic equipment for military applications.

Apply and expand expertise in hardware design, analysis, documentation, and integration of electro‑mechanical systems.

Serve on multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, interfacing heavily with related mechanical engineers, analysts, program management, and customers/stakeholders.

Solve challenging technical problems with innovative solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements throughout the product life cycle, including requirements analysis, concept definition, detailed design, production, and environmental testing.

Present design solutions and analysis during internal and external design reviews, document designs through drawing generation and release, provide factory and supplier support, and support change incorporations.

Contribute to the overall knowledge base of the organization via coaching, knowledge transfer, and process improvement activities.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics packaging, or a Master’s degree in the same field.

Extensive experience with hardware development and electro‑mechanical packaging, including thermal analysis, structural analysis, microelectronics design, opto‑mechanical design, or environmental testing.

Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred) and product data management tools.

Demonstrated leadership of small to moderately sized teams during the product development process, including review of technical work products.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience presenting at design reviews and customer/stakeholder briefings.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance with additional customer‑specified clearance prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

Expertise with ANSYS and/or other design analysis tools.

Familiarity with opto‑mechanical engineering.

Working knowledge of military and commercial process specifications.

Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Experience leading integrated product teams and developing junior engineers.

Experience with project management metrics such as earned value management to monitor engineering budget and schedule requirements.

Experience in design, manufacturing, and integration of electronic assemblies, including appropriate material selections and use of off‑the‑shelf components.

Experience contributing to technical and cost proposal development.

Leadership in process improvement or knowledge transfer activities.

Compensation & Benefits Primary salary range: $77,600.00 – $116,400.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentive plans for eligible positions.
