Position scope and responsibilities

The Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned staff in a manufacturing environment to ensure product conformance to customer specifications and scheduled delivery dates, maintaining safety, quality, production, scrap, and cost efficiency for the shift. Primary responsibilities include planning and assigning work, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This is a hands-on supervision role where you will: Supervise and coordinate activities of employees while maintaining daily and monthly quotas, assuring the highest levels of quality and efficiency. Make recommendations for tooling, fixtures, automation, or other support to help ensure production success. Coach and develop employees and manage issues related to attendance, performance, discipline, termination, and staffing. Communicate with all levels of staff and management; work to develop a strong team atmosphere. Additionally you will be involved in supporting safety, quality, efficiency, and cost objectives and may be required to provide input on process improvements. Key accountabilities / essential functions

Directly supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities to ensure product conformance, quality, safety, and efficiency. Study production schedules and determine machine utilization and capacity; recommend tooling, fixtures, automation, or other support. Assign production work schedules and train employees in methods and procedures. Address attendance, performance, discipline, termination, and staffing issues; provide coaching and development. Maintain regular attendance. Other position duties

Maintain current production records, safety requirements, and applicable state/federal regulatory requirements. Troubleshoot process/equipment problems with other supervisors/managers; implement improvements in methods and procedures. Adhere to operations schedule with supervisors, scheduler, and production manager. Collaborate with quality, scheduling, tool room, maintenance, customer service and other departments to meet specifications and delivery times. Manage manpower within assigned shifts and re-allocate as needed to control labor variances. Train and mentor a strong team; support growth to meet SMC’s demands. Provide direction, take action, prioritize work, and inspire others to achieve results. Foster open communication and collaboration; develop people and build trust. Adapt to changing events and adjust approaches as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or college coursework preferred. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Minimum 3 years’ experience in injection molding plastics or liquid injection molding preferred. Ability to teach and apply lean manufacturing principles. Ability to coordinate workflow, oversee quality requirements, and support other supervisors. Knowledge of injection molding, LIM, tooling, processing, assembly and production machining; ability to set up and troubleshoot production equipment. Working knowledge of secondary equipment, including robotics and pad printing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team player; ability to develop and maintain a team atmosphere; able to communicate with all levels of staff and management. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems; familiarity with ISO, GMP and OSHA standards; IQMS proficiency. Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Physical requirements and environment

Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; movement of objects as required. Prolonged computer usage with repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers. Close visual acuity for data and document review; reading and operating computer terminals. Ability to manage multiple projects with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines. Equipment used
