Are you a compassionate and dedicated new graduate Speech Language Pathologist who thrives on delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative, team-oriented environment? At Lee Health, we welcome you to a culture where you’ll feel valued, respected, and supported.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Lee Health, you will provide screening, evaluation, treatment, and education for individuals with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. You will adhere to all American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) professional standards and be actively involved in administration, consultation, education, and research.
How Are Clinical Fellowship Locations Determined?
At Lee Health, we proudly welcome clinical fellows across a variety of settings (including Acute Care, Outpatient, and Skilled Nursing) but availability at each location varies depending on current needs and capacity. We don’t have positions set aside specifically for clinical fellows. Instead, whenever a new Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) role opens (whether it’s to fill a vacancy or to support an expanding team) we explore the possibility of welcoming a clinical fellow into that position. The process is thoughtful and collaborative. We first check with the department to see if they’re open to taking on a clinical fellow, and then the team reviews how many fellows they’re already supporting at that location. From there, we reach out to the team to see if anyone is interested in serving as a mentor. We never volunteer anyone to mentor, as we believe the best mentorship happens when it’s offered willingly. When a team member steps forward, it’s because they genuinely want to invest in your growth and success, which makes for a much stronger and more meaningful experience. Once a mentor volunteers, we’re able to move forward and welcome a clinical fellow to that location, ensuring you’ll have the support you need from day one.

The Fellowship Experience
The Ideal Candidate: Success in this role requires strong critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. You should be responsible, professional, receptive to feedback, effective in time management, and committed to continuous learning. From the moment your clinical fellowship begins, you’ll be paired 1:1 with a dedicated on-site mentor who is there to guide, support, and advocate for you throughout the entire process. In the early stages, your mentor will work closely with you, helping you navigate cases, answer questions, and build your confidence as you step into your role. As you gradually take on a full caseload and grow more independent, your relationship naturally evolves and the hands-on guidance shifts into a supportive partnership, where your mentor becomes a trusted resource you can rely on whenever you need advice or reassurance. The mentor remains on-site with you the entire time, so you’ll never feel alone in your journey. By the end of your fellowship, if you’re in good standing, you’ll have the opportunity to continue your career with Lee Health as you transition into your role as a fully certified Speech-Language Pathologist and obtain your Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
