This role is a Band 4 Associate Practitioner position within the Stroke Service, working on the Hyperacute Stroke Ward for 12 months. Previous experience as a Band 3 is essential and must be evidenced in your application. Main duties of the job

Work alongside Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy teams to deliver high standards of clinical care, including assessment within a specific remit and development of therapy treatment goals. Carry out admin and non-clinical tasks as part of the role. Demonstrate flexibility, reliability and willingness to learn; possess IT skills, moving and handling competencies, strong communication and effective teamwork. Provide a range of treatment modalities including group exercise, 1-to-1 clinic appointments, home visits and virtual sessions as required. Undertake a patient caseload referred by AHP team members, treating according to set protocols, monitoring progress, and modifying programmes as needed with referrals back to the referrer when appropriate. Accurately record rehabilitation progress per Trust documentation and outcome measures; manage a clinical caseload with supervision requirements met within designated guidelines. Sites include Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), Health Innovation Neighbourhood, Newcastle Dental Hospital, Newcastle Fertility Centre, Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Northern Genetics Service, and Cramlington Manor Walks; offices at Regent Point in Gosforth and community sites. Undertake specific skilled support work to aid the wider team in the rehabilitation service within clinical governance. Accept a patient caseload from AHP team members and treat according to set protocols; monitor progress and adjust treatment plans; refer back to referrers as appropriate. Carry out basic assessment and treatment of non-complex patients as delegated by qualified team members. Provide and deliver individualized exercise programmes within the speciality. Record rehabilitation progress accurately in Trust documentation and use outcome measures. Manage a clinical caseload with at least 50% of time spent without supervision within protocols. Coordinate, supervise and teach junior therapy assistants. Deliver a range of treatment modalities including group sessions, 1-to-1 appointments, home visits and virtual sessions. Qualifications & Education Essential criteria Foundation Degree or NVQ Level 4 or NVQ Level 3 with additional training in the speciality field or equivalent underpinning knowledge Full UK driving licence Knowledge & Experience Essential criteria Sound general education inclusive of literacy and numeracy Previous experience as an AHP assistant/Technical instructor in acute care, community or related speciality Knowledge and understanding of clinical conditions and rehabilitation programmes for patients in the speciality area Knowledge of a range of outcome measures and therapy treatment adjuncts Ability to plan and provide clinical programmes of therapeutic activity and monitor patient progress Ability to manage own caseload effectively and prioritise referrals Effective teamwork Desirable criteria Clinical governance involvement Associate member of a professional body Experience in training/supervising and delivering presentations to others Previous experience as an AHP Associate Experience in developing resources to meet individual patient needs Skills & Abilities Essential criteria Highly developed communication skills Highly developed moving and handling skills IT skills and ability to work as a team Desirable criteria Understanding of all AHP roles within adult rehabilitation; IT skills for electronic notes and other software Important notes
