Lead Laboratory Assistant
Location: Mission Viejo, CA – Providence Mission Hospital.
Job Schedule:
Full‑time, Day shift (8‑hour day).
Pay Range:
$24.82 – $37.98 per hour, plus potential shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, and other incentives.
Description The Lead Laboratory Assistant coordinates and organizes the daily operations of the inpatient/outpatient phlebotomy team, ensuring accurate and timely collection, receipt, and delivery of laboratory specimens. The role also involves overseeing processing duties and supervising lab assistants in various sections of the laboratory, utilizing job knowledge and sound judgment to lead staff.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and organize daily operations of the phlebotomy team.
Ensure accurate and timely collection, receipt, and delivery of laboratory specimens.
Oversee specimen processing, centrifugation, and handling of send‑out specimens to other laboratories.
Supervise lab assistants and manage operations within various laboratory sections.
Exercise good judgment and exercise leadership to achieve laboratory goals.
Required Qualifications
California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License or California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II License on hire.
1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist or Lab Assistant performing blood specimen collections.
Experience with specimen processing, centrifugation, and handling send‑out specimens to other laboratories.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience in blood specimen collections on infants, children, and adults in a hospital environment.
1 year of experience coordinating operations of phlebotomy, lab assistants, or processing teams.
