Location This role is based at our Washington, D.C. plant. Working hours for the role will be
Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM EST . Occasional weekend hours and overtime may be required, to support plant maintenance or emergency situations, as needed.
Primary Purpose of Position Join Constellation as a Plant Electrician and be a key player in our Combined Heat and Power Facility!
As a Plant Electrician you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing and repair of plant equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Plant equipment includes motor control centers, electrical switchgear, plant control systems, gas conditioning system, instrumentation and controls, breakers, motors, miscellaneous electrical systems and other associated equipment. Manage contractors and repairs to high voltage systems. Duties and responsibilities may include other associated tasks as directed by the Combined Heat and Power Plant Manager.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Work as a member of the Combined Heat and Power Facility Operations and Maintenance Team.
Diagnose system and equipment problems, equipment includes generators, motors, breakers, switches, and other electrical gear from 480 V up to 13.8 kV.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems.
Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages.
Maintain custody records of electrical calibration equipment.
Maintain compliance with industry electrical safety standards.
Assist in vendor sourcing to ensure the best value and highest quality for the DC Water Cogeneration Facility.
Install revisions or modifications to plant systems, update controls drawings and schematics.
Follow all approved plant operating, maintenance and health and safety procedures.
Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Decisions are made based on formal procedures, calculations, deductive reasoning, and consultation with supervisor.
Schedule and status activities for both outage and non-outage work scope
Assist in the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program.
Assist in maintaining and controlling the plant electrical inventory system.
Perform calibrations and testing of equipment maintain custody records of calibration and test equipment.
Perform other duties, as assigned. Other duties may include assisting with mechanical maintenance, equipment calibrations, general housekeeping, etc.
This position may be required to work overtime to support vacations, plant outages, emergency work, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 5 years electrical maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Technical trades training (trade or military), such as electrical certifications or similar certifications
Understanding of Medium Voltage Systems (480 volts up to 13.8 kV) and their maintenance
Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including working with switching up to 480 volts
Experience with analytical troubleshooting techniques and root cause failure analysis
Computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, talk, hear and use hands.
Ability to climb ladders, reach with hands and arms to climb and balance
Ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at knees and waist. Lift up to 50 lbs
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Qualifications
Experience performing electrical maintenance at a power plant or industrial plant
