Job Responsibilities and Duties Proactively lead a mechanical crew in alignment with SMC's supervisory principles (guide, educate, and train). Lead and participate in safety meetings, safety inspections, ensure that equipment used is in safe working condition, and monitor compliance with established company safety policies. Assist in employee development and skills training. Collaborate and communicate with other departments to build and maintain teamwork that accomplishes our goals in a safe and efficient manner. Assist in the interview process and make recommendations for hiring. Maintain costs within budget.

Location East Boulder Mine - McLeod, MT

Schedule Rotating - 5x4x4x5 Day Shift: 5:30am - 6:30pm Night Shift: 5:30pm - 6:30am

Required Qualifications and Skills

Working knowledge of applicable MSHA rules and regulations.

Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.

Basic understanding of high and low voltage electricity.

Basic understanding of welding processes.

Ability to use related O.E.M. manuals.

Understand, support, and maintain compliance of SMC's DPM program.

Understand, support and maintain compliance of SMC's Noise exposure reduction plan.

Computer skills plus the ability to learn and utilize Company authorized software.

Preferred

Working knowledge of underground mining with 2 to 5 years underground maintenance supervisory experience

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Specialized training on mechanical systems and 3 to 5 years related experience or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, hydraulics or related field
