Construction Superintendent – Low Voltage Systems

Location: Montgomery, Alabama

Employment Type: Full-time, On-site

Compensation: $100,000–$160,000 base salary

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on major construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring project completion that meets safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives. The Superintendent will manage daily site activities, oversee low-voltage systems installation, coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety compliance, and maintain client satisfaction.

Scope of Role

Ensure all project activities are executed safely, in accordance with safety policies and procedures.

Supervise craft workers and subcontractors; coordinate their work to meet schedule and quality requirements.

Lead safety meetings, promote accountability, and ensure a culture of safety compliance on the jobsite.

Oversee installation and testing of low-voltage systems including structured cabling, communications, security, and A/V systems.

Coordinate and supervise project mobilization, site setup, and material handling.

Develop and execute project-specific pre-job and material handling plans.

Participate in project scheduling to align field activities with the overall project plan.

Conduct weekly scheduling meetings with subcontractor foremen to review progress and resolve conflicts.

Monitor daily production, quality, and costs to ensure adherence to budget and schedule targets.

Evaluate and develop Assistant Superintendents, Coordinators, Engineers, and craft labor personnel.

Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, timekeeping, cost tracking, and project logs.

Expedite materials and subcontractor activities to maintain schedule continuity.

Inspect material deliveries for quantity, quality, and compliance with specifications.

Participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings, ensuring proactive communication and issue resolution.

Foster positive client relations by responding promptly to project and customer needs.

Required Qualifications

3–7 years of experience managing or overseeing installation of low-voltage building systems.

Proven experience supervising communications system installations and structured cabling work.

Hands‑on experience with outside and inside plant cabling installation.

Strong background in low-voltage systems integration—communications, A/V, and security.

PMP or BICSI RTPM certification (or in progress).

Other desirable credentials: BICSI Certified Cable Installer, RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer).

Excellent leadership and team coordination skills with focus on safety, quality, and performance.

Strong technical understanding of MEP coordination and system commissioning interfaces.

Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and schedules concurrently.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Project, Teams, SharePoint).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

Professional accreditations such as DBIA, LEED, or equivalent are preferred.

Experience with field technology tools for documentation, scheduling, and reporting.

Prior experience leading low-voltage scope on large commercial, government, or institutional projects.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Requires regular walking, kneeling, climbing, stooping, reaching, and lifting at active construction sites.

Must be able to read blueprints, take field measurements, and perform site inspections safely.

Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and outdoor conditions.

Ability to maintain balance, operate vehicles, and use computers/tablets for documentation.
