We’re seeking an experienced
Mechanical Engineer
to join our team in
Newport News, VA . In this role, you will lead the design, planning, and execution of
utility infrastructure projects
— from concept through commissioning and close-out. You’ll work closely with design teams, technical experts, and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Lead all phases of mechanical and utility infrastructure projects, including design, bid & award, construction, commissioning, and close-out. Conduct feasibility studies, assess risks, and develop High Level Feasibility Estimates (HLFEs). Develop comprehensive project plans covering justification, scope, deliverables, risks, budget, and schedule. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including design agents and technical experts, to define and execute project strategies. Ensure designs meet performance requirements, constructability standards, and safety regulations. Oversee selection and performance of qualified contractors and suppliers. Manage financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, progress tracking, and payment approvals. Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal codes and environmental standards. Monitor project schedules, manage critical paths, and drive timely delivery. Promote a strong safety culture for all team members, employees, and contractors. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering
or related field. 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, construction, or infrastructure project management. Strong understanding of thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems. Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept to completion. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
