Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Job Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and cleanliness of buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role involves both preventative maintenance and emergency repairs, requiring a broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
Perform routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems.
Respond to maintenance requests and repair needs promptly and efficiently.
Maintain and repair structural elements such as walls, doors, flooring, ceilings, and roofs.
Ensure compliance with safety and building codes, health regulations, and internal policies.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized maintenance or repairs.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs using CMMS or other tracking systems.
Monitor inventory levels of tools, supplies, and replacement parts; reorder as needed.
Assist in setting up workspaces, moving furniture, and maintaining exterior grounds as required.
Provide support during facility emergencies, including power outages or equipment failures.
Promote a safe working environment by following safety procedures and using protective equipment.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED; trade or technical school certification preferred.
3+ years of experience in building maintenance, repair, or a related field.
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems.
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.
Valid driver's license (if travel between sites is required).
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Work Conditions
May require on‑call availability, shift work, or overtime depending on operational needs.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather or physically demanding environments.
Salary: $20.50–$23.77 per hour
