The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and perform complex mechanical engineering design activities for retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects. This role requires extensive experience in the design of power generation or heavy industrial facilities and the ability to provide technical direction, ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and perform detailed mechanical engineering design for small to medium retrofit and new construction projects.

Develop piping and equipment layouts, perform pipe sizing and routing, material selection, and pipe support design.

Prepare and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, datasheets, and inquiry packages.

Conduct hydraulic calculations and perform equipment selection for pumps, tanks, valves, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.

Provide technical direction and guidance to designers and junior engineers.

Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables.

Make sound, independent engineering decisions with limited information and within project constraints.

Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate effectively with plant personnel, project teams, and vendors.

Support field checkout and system startup activities as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution (required).

Experience:

Minimum 20 years of related mechanical engineering experience in power generation or heavy industrial facilities.

Licensure:

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Required Skills & Expertise

Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles and industry standards.

Proficiency in piping system design, equipment layout, and mechanical system integration.

Experience developing and checking P&IDs and performing hydraulic and mechanical calculations.

Working knowledge of process equipment including piping, pumps, valves (manual/control/relief), pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.

Experience with relief valve and control valve sizing.

Proficiency with relevant design software (Pipe-Flo or equivalent preferred).

Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design efforts and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
