This role supports field service operations within Sungrow USA related to commissioning, warranty, and O&M of the expanding installed sites in the region. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning support of PV inverters and ancillary equipment/systems, typically at the customer site or at a staging yard/warehouse. The position will comply with the Safety Mandate, “ZERO HARM,” to ensure safe and efficient work and operation of facilities for all personnel and equipment. Safety management policy and procedures regarding the facility include safety information, hazard analysis, safe operations/maintenance training, subcontractor compliance, plant integrity, work permits, emergency planning, and response. Duties and Responsibilities
Perform a variety of technical assignments involving the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of string and central solar inverter and/or BESS systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment. General troubleshooting and diagnosis within Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines. Support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans. For O&M capacity, perform Preventive Maintenance and other LTSA activities per the contract. Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, investigations may involve SOC checks and module/component-level troubleshooting, replacement of electrical/electronic parts, SW version updates, etc. Provide feedback to the engineering and project team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements. Lead upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the project's technical scope and manage work schedule and commitments. Coordinate with customer SCADA engineers to set up system communication and parameters involving Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems as needed. Describe troubleshooting sequences and procedures observed; identify and document basic mechanical and electrical issues. Perform basic corrective maintenance and create/modify field service procedures for safety troubleshooting and maintenance if required. When using contractors on-site, act as the Lead to ensure daily activity reports, JSA reports, and work follow Sungrow standards and expectations. Prepare and submit Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports. Work independently in the field and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues and support root-cause investigations for technology applications on complex projects. Coordinate with engineering, logistics, finance, and program management to maintain solar plant operations. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures; complete documentation in a timely and organized fashion; follow level-appropriate SOPs. Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for full compliance with site documentation and project requirements. Serve as a safety second if needed. Education or Licenses
Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline from an accredited university or college Renewable industry experience is desired Power electronics experience is desired OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire Competencies
Strong demonstration of workplace safety practices Understands and follows a Safety Plan Comprehend Job Hazard Analysis and conduct level-appropriate Job Hazard Analysis Authorized Person for LOTO Compliant with environmental safety requirements Ability to utilize and inspect appropriate safety and fall protection equipment Minimum Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities Accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in a metrics-driven environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with diverse partners, managers, and subject matter experts 3+ years of overall experience in a technical field 2+ years of experience in solar inverters or BESS Ability to work with test equipment and hand tools Ability to follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOPs Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite OSHA, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety Experience and/or certification with MV transformers is a plus Travel
