Job Summary Provides assistance to clients who come to the Agency seeking help. Assists in the daily operations of program activities and facility services. This position is 20 hours a week Tuesday - Friday 8:30-1:30pm.

Duties/Responsibilities

Meet with clients for Crisis Case Management, advocacy and referrals for general and specific needs Advocacy in an atmosphere respectful of each client’s dignity, i.e. assist those in need with food, clothing, furniture and household vouchers as well as provide crisis counseling, advocacy and referrals for “crisis of the day” Advocacy.

Regularly inform the Area Director of the successes and problems of the community services programs.

Work positively and cooperatively with appropriate Agency personnel in upgrading the quality of existing programs.

Develop and maintain good relations with United Way, various key constituent groups and other service providers in the community.

Treat clients with respect, dignity and firmness with regard to the program guidelines.

Assist supervisor with media opportunities, speaking engagements, public meeting attendance and networking with various community groups.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities, Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field.

Two (2) or more years’ experience in the daily operations of community based social service programming.

Judeo-Christian concern for and ethical understanding of client needs.

Initiative, maturity and flexibility.

Ability to accept instructions and apply them in a logical and responsible manner and make productive use of time.

Sensitivity and respect for populations of individuals who may be considered marginalized regarding their socio-economic, emotional, physical and spiritual backgrounds and the ability to work within a team concept and within the philosophy of the Catholic Charities mission.
