Department Overview Motorola Solutions has served government agencies and enterprises for more than 95 years. The Field Service Organization (FSO) supports the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission-critical communications systems at customer locations. The department operates 24/7/365 to support mission-critical systems for Public Safety Customers.

Job Description The job tasks encompass a wide range of technical responsibilities, including the deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwave equipment, computers, servers, and network equipment. The FSO collaborates with Public Safety Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales Teams, Project Managers, System Technologists, and Service Partners to complete assigned tasks.

Maintain, optimize, test, document and manage highly technical Motorola communications systems.

Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system and address system-level alarms and malfunctions proactively.

Manage system availability through routine system maintenance, performance monitoring and preventative maintenance.

Perform preventative maintenance routines with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.

Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting, provisioning, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.

Deliver knowledge of RF systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.

Deliver knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.

Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.

Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered in system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues.

Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.

Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service and Sales to maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Preferred Skills

Familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures.

Experience as a Communications System Technician with expertise in P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment.

Knowledgeable in wired/wireless communications systems, including LANs and WANs.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers, partners, and teams.

Self-motivated and able to perform duties independently without direct supervision.

Skilled in resolving customer problems quickly, even under stress.

Familiarity with configuring and testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks.

Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

Ability to develop and deliver technical training.

Ability to guide the integration of new tools and solutions into team operations.

Experience with equipment used to optimize and test Motorola systems, such as CFEs, Sensors, TIMS, CPS, CSS, and Antenna Systems Analyzers.

Skilled in configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products.

Experience working with logging/recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless systems, 911 applications, and networking equipment.

Candidate Requirements

The Field Service Technician must live a commutable distance to the Miami Dade County area.

Willing to travel 25% of the time and live within 50 miles of the coverage area.

Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.

Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations.

Ability to be on-call 24/7/365.

FCC license and ETA certifications are a plus.

CET certifications through CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ are highly desirable.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires working in high security areas governed by the CJIS Security Policy and may require a fingerprint background check.

Target Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 USD

Pay transparency information: Pay varies based on knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the candidate.

Basic Requirements

High School Diploma/GED OR 3+ years experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Systems, Military, Motorola equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment.

Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customers.

Travel/Relocation/Position Type Under 10% travel. Relocation None. Position Type: Experienced. Referral Payment Plan: Yes.
