Position Summary: As an Automation Technical Service Representative (TSR) at Sealed Air, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging equipment at customer sites. Your primary focus will be diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventative and emergency maintenance to ensure optimal system performance, and ensuring the reliability of automation systems. You will also play a key role in building customer relationships and proactively identifying opportunities to upsell equipment, services, and preventive maintenance (PM) agreements. You will work closely with customers to meet or exceed their packaging automation service needs, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.

Responsibilities

Installation & Integration: Install, commission, and integrate Sealed Air’s automated packaging systems at customer locations, ensuring systems are fully operational upon completion.

Maintenance & Service: Perform both preventive and emergency maintenance to address mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues, ensuring optimal system performance.

Troubleshooting & Diagnosis: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions remotely (via phone) and on-site, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Calibration & Adjustment: Calibrate and adjust machinery settings to ensure high product quality and operational efficiency.

Customer Support & Training: Provide technical guidance and training to customers on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting best practices.

Collaboration: Work with leadership, engineering, and support teams to resolve issues and communicate for future system improvements.

Service Documentation: Document all service activities, maintenance schedules, work orders, repairs, parts used, inventory, and customer communications.

Sales & Upselling: Identify opportunities for upselling service and maintenance agreements, and elective services, directly with customers.

Customer Relationship Management: Maintain professional relationships with customers as the primary technical contact and ensure satisfaction.

Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols during service activities.

Travel Requirements: Travel to customer locations within the region as needed, with flexibility for occasional nights or weekends.

Organizational Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, including independent scheduling and prioritization of weekly activities.

Team Engagement: Attend team meetings and training to stay updated on product knowledge and service procedures.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Electronics, or related field, with demonstrated field experience; or 3–4 years in a similar technical role.

Technical Expertise: Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated packaging systems, robotics, or related machinery.

Mechanical & Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and PLC/control systems; experience with conveyors and packaging machinery.

System Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

Industry Safety Awareness: Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and protocols.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication with customers, team members, and leadership.

Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure.

Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel to customer locations and work in various environments, including occasional overnight or weekend travel.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with basic computer tools for diagnostics, reporting, and service management systems.

Licenses: Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain a U.S. Passport (or already possess one).

Compensation & Benefits Total Target Compensation (Base + Commission): $84,000 – $105,000. The range complies with applicable pay transparency laws. Offers within this range are determined by education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs. Sealed Air offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other well-being benefits.
