Clean Harbors is seeking a
HAZMAT General Laborer / Field Service Technician I
to join our safety conscious team in
Leland, NC . The role involves hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials. This position may require travel, on-call availability, and emergency response in some circumstances. Responsibilities
Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration-producing tools Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators and protective gear in multiple combinations Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive agents Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and areas with low clearance Work at elevations including ladders and scaffolding Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters Climb ladders, scaffolding and enter/exit trucks, tanks and other containers Work extended (>8 hours) time periods as needed Attend all compliance and safety update meetings Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal regulations and rules Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements Observe all corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Be on call for emergency response on rotating basis Site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials as required Qualifications
Reliable transportation Valid Driver’s license Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities Emergency response eligibility; on-call requirements; occasional weekend/holiday work; response can extend beyond 8 hours (up to 12-24 hrs) Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position For positions requiring respirators, meet facial hair standards per OSHA respiratory protection requirements Preferred Qualifications

Base pay range
– $20.00/hr to $22.00/hr Location
