Main Duties & Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY: Fabricate and/or repair precision carbide and steel tooling (dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.) for the manufacture of aircraft-quality fasteners, utilizing automatic and manual machines, and/or cutting apparatuses, and precision measuring devices. Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies: Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines required to fabricate part. Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations. Measures, makes, and scribes metal stock for machining. Sets up and operates equipment such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications. Examines standard to previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modification regarding construction and function of part. Meets and maintains productivity levels and quality requirements in support of departmental standards, goals, and schedules. Performs record keeping, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED. 1-2 years’ experience in fabricating aircraft quality fastener tooling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; stand and sit; occasionally walk; lift/move up to 10 pounds; vision abilities include close, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Compensation
Expected pay range: $19.00 - $29.86, depending on qualifications, skills, experience, and location. Additional incentives like bonuses or commissions may apply. Benefits
