to work on NASA’s deep‑space exploration initiatives. This role is located at the

NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX

and is part of the JETS II contract team.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Propulsion Engineer, supporting the technical development, certification and verification of integrated propulsion systems for multiple ISS visiting vehicles, including USDV and new commercial resupply services.

Collaborate with engineers in the NASA project office, US prime contractors and international partners to assess the design and safe operation of propulsion systems for manned vehicles.

Ensure technical certification of multiple propulsion systems, performing integrated technical analysis and rigorous oversight of propulsion components.

Support the creation, review and closure of hazard reports, integrated hazard analysis, component variances and waiver rationale.

Create program risk packages and develop risk mitigation proposals, including dissenting opinion packages for the program chief engineer.

Oversee staffing and budget planning, working with the ISS Program Office and division budget office to develop and implement cost‑phasing plans.

Lead risk mitigation and strategic project management to identify and execute risk mitigation efforts for the visiting vehicles propulsion system.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 5‑10 years of related experience.

Spacecraft propulsion experience with focus on fluid and mechanical aspects.

Experience in design, assembly, testing, certification and operation of space propulsion systems and components.

Experience coordinating propulsion system requirements verification and validation across multiple organizations.

Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, testing and office software.

Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and ability to coordinate support from diverse technical disciplines.

Confidence in propulsion topics and ability to discuss them with subject matter experts.

Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification and Engineering processes.

Experience in a Systems Engineering role within NASA, DoD or aerospace environments.

Experience with requirements management, verification and validation definition, design trades, risk analysis and system analysis of space hardware.

Ability to prepare written documents and present at high‑level meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes and procedures.

Working knowledge of NASA, JSC and ISS standard practices and requirements, including safety and fault tolerance.

Experience with NASA/JSC documentation databases, SharePoint sites and typical systems engineering software.

Previous technical or team leadership roles.
